Job Description
A boat mechanic is responsible for providing mechanical support to equipment including tenders, survey boats, deck boats with outboard engines and including any hull, cabin and under water gear repairs while vessel is on dry dock at a various shipyard facilities and jobsites.
Essential Job Functions
Diagnose and troubleshoot all equipment reporting any issues or malfunctions.
Repair and test various equipment systems as required (i.e., hydraulic, 12-volt DC systems, electrical systems, and components).
Perform routine maintenance on the tenders, survey boats, and deck boats with outboard engines as required and ensure the vessel is in proper working condition prior to release for use.
Accurately complete inspections, service records, and repair documents.
Follow all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an Incident and Injury Free work environment.
Requirements
Five (5) years of mechanical experience (Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, Detroit Diesel, etc.).
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must have strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Knowledge of AC & DC electrical systems preferred.
Ability to work a 50-hour work week, Mon. thru Fri. 6:
30 am to 5:
00 pm, weekends as required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Short-term travel will be required from time to time with extended stays possible.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Must be able to tolerate harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and heights.
Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, or stand for prolonged periods of time.
